a-Si Solar Panels

In addition to years of experience in solar module production and development, our scientists and engineers have designed 14 thin-film PV manufacturing facilities around the world. Our current research and development efforts include Nano-crystalline Silicon (n-Si) and Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide (CIGS) technology.

EPVSOLAR’s Thin-Film, Dual-Junction, Amorphous Silicon (a-Si) Solar Modules:

  • Perform better than crystalline silicon (c-Si) modules in higher temperatures due to favorable temperature coefficients.
  • Produce low cost electricity (kWh) due to low capital investment, our proprietary batch process, and high output per rated watt.
  • Are environmentally friendly.
  • Have a dark, uniform color that is aesthetically appealing. This quality renders our modules ideal for building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and other high-visibility applications.
  • Use raw materials that are inexpensive and readily available.
  • Are frameless, which eliminates the need to ground modules individually. This also prevents rainwater from damming around the modules’ edges.
  • Have a shorter energy payback period (the amount of time it takes a module to generate enough energy to equal the energy used to produce the module) than c-Si modules.
  • Are more likely to continue producing electricity than c-Si modules should a portion of a module become covered by leaves, shade, or debris.
  • Require virtually no maintenance.
  • Suffer no cell interconnection failures.

EPV offers several varieties of thin film modules based upon proprietary manufacturing technology with specially designed equipment for the production of quality, low cost, modules. The modules are ideal for rooftop, freestanding and building integrated (BIPV) applications. EPV modules can be found in numerous installations such as 4 Times Square, Philadelphia school of the future, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, to name a few.

Under peak conditions in central Florida, EPVSOLAR's a-Si cells produce 30% more energy than competitor's c-Si cells.

Applications of EPV’s Thin Film Solar Modules:

  • Rooftop Modular photovoltaic panels can be easily applied to existing structures. They can be used to power your building's electrical systems, including lights, cooling systems, and office equipment. The system costs of the photovoltaic solution are reduced because the building is being used as the support structure.
  • Freestanding systems can be placed on unused land to create power plants. In many areas, power can be sold back to the grid. For locations where the electrical grid cannot be accessed inexpensively or easily, freestanding photovoltaic systems are perfect. They provide clean energy without all the extra wiring required to connect to a power plant miles away.
