EPV SOLAR, Inc., Leads Off 2008 Tradeshow Schedule in the UAE

January 8, 2008 - Robbinsville, NJ, USA:

EPV SOLAR, Inc. (formerly Energy Photovoltaics, Inc.), a leading thin-film photovoltaic module developer and manufacturer headquartered in New Jersey, USA, will begin its 2008 tradeshow schedule with exhibits at two major energy shows in the UAE—World Future Energy Summit (WFES) held in Abu Dhabi, January 21-23, and Middle-East Electricity 2008 (MEE), February 10-13.

The WFES show, dedicated to renewable energy solutions, technological innovations, and visions for the future of energy, is a premier event for the world’s academic, business, and policy leaders. The show is held under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, H.H. General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. Hosted by MASDAR, the UAE’s multi-billion dollar initiative to establish the world’s largest center and network for the development and commercialization of alternative energy sources, the WFES will serve as a forum for MASDAR’s innovative efforts.

Of particular interest to EPV SOLAR is MASDAR’s plan to build a six square kilometer carbon-neutral metropolis in Abu Dhabi. Much of its energy and the energy behind its construction will come from huge PV arrays set in the desert. EPV SOLAR’s Vice President of Sales, William Weisbecker, who will represent the company at the exhibition, stated, “EPV SOLAR intends to be one of the 30 companies selected to compete to be among those contributing to the first 5 to 10 MW of electrical power the MASDAR initiative will require.”

Dubai, where the second conference, MEE, will be held, recently announced that every new building will have to have at least 2.5% of its energy supplied by a renewable source. Ken McCauley, EPV SOLAR’s General Manager for Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), who will represent the company at the MEE show, shares Weisbecker’s expectation of great interest in EPV SOLAR’s modules: “The opportunity for thin-film BIPV in this setting is immense, particularly given the political push and environmental necessity for renewable energy. People will be anxious to build beautiful buildings that also generate their own electricity, and they will be correct in perceiving EPV SOLAR’s product as a means to that end.”
