EPV Names Scott T. Massie as C.E.O.

February 01, 2007 - Robbinsville, NJ, USA:

Energy Photovoltaics, Inc. (EPV), a thin-film solar energy products manufacturer and technology developer in New Jersey, today announced that Scott T. Massie has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.

Mr. Massie, formerly the Chief Operating Officer of EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR), joins EPV during a high-growth stage that includes significant expansion of its manufacturing facilities. “EPV is proud to welcome an executive of the caliber and experience of Scott Massie," said Frederick A. Voight, EPV’s Chairman. “He has a proven record of strong leadership, strategic planning, and innovative thinking that has resulted in enormous success for every company that he has worked with."

Mr. Massie’s previous roles at EMCORE, which operates four divisions (including photovoltaics) and more than a dozen international facilities, required international business management as well as high tech/high growth semiconductor business management. During his four year tenure, Mr. Massie managed EMCORE into being a cash-positive business, dramatically increasing shareholder value. These skills, combined with his academic training in physics and mathematics, position Mr. Massie to manage and accelerate EPV’s commercial development.

Prior to EMCORE, Mr. Massie was President of IQE, Inc., and Director of IQE plc (FTSE: IQEL). He was promoted from COO, where his development and implementation of operating plans resulted in greater than 120% operational growth within two years of IQE’s IPO. Prior to this, Mr. Massie was COO of Quantum Expitaxial Designs, Inc., a venture capital backed semiconductor company, where his skills helped take a ten person “start-up” to an internationally recognized semiconductor manufacturer.

Mr. Massie comes to EPV during a period of exponential growth projections for the solar industry. “My role at EPV will be to lead it through this period of unprecedented demand and make it a great solar company," said Massie. “I am truly excited to be part of the solar industry and to be able to use my skills to grow this business, create shareholder value, and deliver solar products that will help to re-shape electric generation and reduce greenhouse gases."

James F. Groelinger, EPV’s previous CEO, becomes the company’s President. Mr. Groelinger led EPV since 2001 and is responsible for the company’s current product line and positioning for success. Through his efforts, the once struggling company is now poised to take advantage of the heightened current world-wide interest in solar products. Mr. Massie states: “Jim’s business experience and solar industry expertise are critical to the company’s ongoing success."

EPV, a thin-film solar energy technology developer and a manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic modules and products, is located near Princeton, New Jersey, USA. In addition to selling photovoltaic products throughout the world, EPV designs and builds thin-film photovoltaic product manufacturing systems.
